COVID-19 changed the way we access health services, including psychology sessions. Last year saw psychologists conducting sessions in your living room, bedroom, or car through phone or video platforms because of restrictions enforced. Thankfully, Medicare recognised and responded to the change in circumstances pretty quickly to ensure everyone had the financial capacity to seek or continue therapy sessions.
At the time of writing, COVID clusters continue to be reported on a regular basis throughout Australia, resulting in accompanying restrictions. At PsychMed, we are thankful for the fast responses from state governments and grateful for the Medicare services that allow us and other psychology practices to continue providing important services to clients. Whether you have encountered further difficulties with COVID or just wish to be cautious, Medicare and PsychMed can support you with ongoing telehealth services until 30 June 2021.
In case you were unaware, telehealth services are also available until this date for:
- GPs, medical practitioners, specialists, and consultant physicians
- Nurse practitioners
- Participating midwives,
- Participating allied health providers
- Participating dental practitioners in the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery
PsychMed are ready to support you in person or through telehealth. Contact us on (08) 8232 2424 for more information or visit your GP to organise a referral.
