The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is designed to support individuals with disabilities to reach their goals and integrate with their community while giving them autonomy over who they work with.

Mental health support can be instrumental in working towards personal, social, and emotional wellbeing. It is well documented that mental health conditions, like depression and anxiety, are common in individuals with disabilities but how professionals work with each person depends on their disability and personal goals.

Psychiatrists, psychologists, and other qualified mental health professionals can also play a key role in providing evidence of functional impairment when individuals apply for NDIS funding. Proof of psychosocial functioning is required in at least one of six areas: communication, social interaction, learning, mobility, self-care, and self-management.

PsychMed is a registered NDIS provider offering both comprehensive assessment and treatment services. Our experienced clinicians can evaluate children and adults and write reports to support NDIS applications. Once NDIS funding is in place, our clinicians can work with clients on short- or long-term treatment goals to provide therapeutic and behavioural support. We also have experience in early childhood interventions for diagnoses such as autism or ADHD.

PsychMed is proud to provide NDIS-funded services at all our clinics and we believe strongly in respecting the rights and autonomy of all clients and their carers,. As such, we always agree on treatment duration and session length and frequency upfront with clients before commencing work together.

The NDIS is a pioneering initiative that gives many people with disabilities a voice in how they wish to live in both the present and the future.
